Bury St Edmunds eco markets
Wednesday 27 April 2022
Introducing the new Eco Markets taking place at the Bury St Edmunds Makers Markets in 2022.
Eco conscious makers and entrepreneurs will be at the Makers Market on Sunday 1 May, Sunday 3 July, and Sunday 4 September from 10am to 3pm.
A variety of products will be available, including organic and vegan food and drink, upcycled and recycled clothing and homeware, vegan soaps, wellness gifts and more.
If you fancy turning your hand to something new, try out one of the free craft workshops on offer. Green Up Your Act will show you how to upcycle old maps and recycled materials into notebooks and The Crafty Foxes will be making 1950’s themed toys out of recycled cardboard, paper and string.
For those interested in eco and active travel options there will be the opportunity to try out an eco-bike from local company Spoke and Motor. We would also like to encourage visitors to consider walking or cycling to the market if they can.
Cllr Andy Drummond, Cabinet Member for Regulatory and Environment said: “We are committed to promoting sustainability and investing in a greener future for our residents, communities, and businesses in West Suffolk. The Eco Markets are a great opportunity to support and showcase local eco-friendly businesses and encourage us to shop sustainably and reduce our impact on the environment.”
Cllr Susan Glossop, Cabinet Member for Growth said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Hive to deliver these Eco Markets as part of our diverse range of events in West Suffolk. By hosting the Eco Market alongside the Makers Market this will be a celebration of local makers and entrepreneurs and boost footfall in Bury St Edmunds.”
Gemma, owner of Doodle Donuts, who have a range of vegan donuts, sweet treats and burgers said: “I am very happy to attend this new event as the trial event last year brought in a wide range of customers who were interested in eco and vegan products and it felt like a lovely community event.”
Jessica Livsey, owner of Samu Kitchen said: “We are so happy to be a part of this new eco event in Bury. There are so many fantastic local businesses coming that are all working towards a more sustainable community.”
